Come Independence Day and the patriotism within us goes on an upsurge, which is why perhaps music composer Salim Merchant decided to compose a rendition of the new National Anthem.
Sung by Kailash Kher, Shreya Ghoshal, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Niigaam and Salim himself, the song is a one-and-a-half minute composition. However, since the National Anthem cannot really be changed, the new element is added in the form of acoustic guitars, piano and voice back. “The composition is made in a way that it sounds like a prayer,” says Merchant.
He says that the music company has taken care that there are no official issues involved with the reworked version. “I was really kicked about it. I felt fantastic to give something back to our own country,” adds Merchant who was very keen on making this composition when approached with the idea.
