Director Abbas Tyrewala reunited with music maestro A.R. Rahman for his forthcoming film Jhootha Hi Sahi to repeat the musical success of Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na and the music maestro has composed a beautiful track in the guise of "Do Nishaniyan". The rest of the album has hits and misses, but it's worth listening to once.
The film, a home production of Saregama, has nine songs.
To begin with, the album offers "Cry cry" crooned by Rashid Ali and Shreya Ghoshal, which is occupying airwaves and broadcasting time currently. The song is different owing to the lyrics and the interesting composition. It is zippy and exudes freshness.
Next in line is "Maiya yashoda" that is doing the rounds of TV channels. It has two versions - one is the Jamuna mix with Chinmayi and Javed Ali and the Thames mix by the same singers. The song has a complete Indian flavour and is quite upbeat.
The Thames mix is quite similar, just that more electronic beats are added to this one.
Then there is Karthik singing "Hello", a song that totally revolves around the telephone. It's more of a situation number and even the dialing tone is used in the composition. Not hummable but worth a listen.
Then comes the best song of the album "Do Nishaniyan" with Sonu Niigaam behind the mike. The track has a poignant beginning and Sonu's silken voice is perfect for this slow-paced rendition. The orchestration is subtle and enjoyable. One of Rahman's great tracks that shows his prowess of being different.
The track also has a reprise version, sung by the same singer. The version is just a little slower and has more depth, but both the songs are equally interesting.
Next Shreya goes behind the mike yet again for "Pam para", a foot-tapping and high-on-energy track. It's neither bad nor brilliant.
"Call me dil" starts with a beautiful acoustic piece that gives it an edge. Rashid Ali does a great job with the vocals. The song is quite melodious and grows on you when you keep listening to it in loop. The soft track manages to create its mark.
Finally, there is a half-English half-Hindi song "I've been waiting", crooned by Vijay Yesdus. The song oozes softness and creates a balmy effect on the listener. A wonderful composition.
On the whole, Rahman has yet again created an album that has a mix of various genres and keeps the listeners' interest intact.

SHREYA,S REFERENCES...
Singing in other languages isn't a big deal for Shreya Ghoshal, whose mother tongue is Bengali.
"Singing in Hindi is nice, but restrictive. Regional languages are more rhythmic, have a different tone and sound, making it more interesting," says Shreya, who's excited about her songs in Pancha Rangi, Endhiran and Anwar.
And while music continues to be the singer's primary passion, it is unlikely that she will put together an album of her own songs. "The Indian music market is very film-oriented, and any other creative music venture doesn't receive enough support. I'd rather do singles and put them on my website," she remarks.

GHOSHAL MESERISES NEW ZEALAND!!!
Reader Perdy Mohindru from Auckland, New Zealand [ Images ], sent us this article and picture of Shreya Ghoshal [ Images ]'s concert in New Zealand recently. Feel free to mail us your write-ups, videos and photographs tomoviesdesk@rediff.co.in
Shreya captured the hearts of New Zealanders with her awesome melodious performance at the packed Telstra Pacific events centre, Auckland, on August 20.
Her voice was a musical treat that quickly struck a chord with the large Indian and Fijian community settled there, and revived nostalgic memories of their homeland.
The evening kicked off with Shreya's soulful rendition of Tujh Me Rab Dikhta Hai followed by the peppy track Bahaara from the film, I Hate Luv Storys [ Images ].
Thunderous applause greeted the rendition ofJaadu Hai Nasha Hai (Jism [ Images ]).
But the track that really touched the hearts of the crowd was the very romantic Teri Ore (Singh is Kinng [ Images ]). One can still remember how beautifully this song was picturised on Katrina Kaif [ Images ] and Akshay Kumar [ Images ].
One would have liked her to sing more of the very catchy Tu Bas De De Mera Saath (Gangster [Images ]) while Pal Har Pal (Parineeta [ Images ]) was rendered perfectly. The audience really lapped it up.
But the song that really got the crowd on their feet was the very vibrant and peppy Ye Ishq Haayefrom the Kareena Kapoor [ Images ] starrer Jab We Met [ Images ], and Bairi Piya and Dola Re Dolafrom Devdas.
Post break, Shreya lit the stage with Barso Re Megha (Guru). Aucklanders enjoyed that, as the showers were already in full swing.
Zoobi Doobi from the blockbuster 3 Idiots really got the crowd going. Once again Shreya's vocals were mindblowing. I especially enjoyed the small additions to the song.
She followed it up with the very simple and sweet yet exuberant track, Hum to Aise He Bhaiya (Laga Chunari Mein Daag). The audience liked the rendition ofDhum Tana (Om Shanti Om [ Images ]) while the teenagers loved her flawless rendition of the very sexy track Jaagi Jaagi Soyi Na Me Saari Raat (Prince).
Shreya did a medley of catchy songs starting with Tera Mera Milna, Bring It On, Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha and Om Shanti Om. The youth in the galleries loved the song All Cool Boyz.
Shreya soon switched gears by singing the very romantic yet mystical number Bepanah Pyaar He from Krishna Cottage and a Marathi song.
In the last segment of the show, she paid tribute to legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar [ Images ] by singing Tere Bina Zindagi Se Koi Shikva Nahin from the superhit movie Aandhi. One could see a lot of older people getting nostalgic with this one. She introduced all her musicians and then ended the musical night with Dola Re and Ye Ishq Haiye.
All in all, it was a superb show organised by ABC Entertainment and Perfect Harmony Productions. Shreya captivated the music-loving fraternity of New Zealand with her melodious, flawless and extremely soothing vocal renditions.
The magical web that she cast on the audience kept them entranced for almost four hours.

shreya did it again!!!-this time in auckland:-)
If her honeyed, silken voice mesmerised the choc-a-bloc audience leaving it asking for more at the end of her four-hour power-packed performance, it was Shreya Ghoshal’s endearingly straight-from-the-heart, down-to-earth manner of connecting with her fans that had her walk right into their hearts on Friday night.
The seven times national award winner and Bollywood’s most sought after female voice gave Kiwi Indians the kind of performance that will undoubtedly be remembered for a long time to come.
She established a connection with the audience from the word go with her candid natter that included generous praise for New Zealand, Kiwis and of course Kiwi Indians and carried her fans all along with her no-nonsense, girl-next-door demeanour to the very end; cajoling, coaxing and prodding them to sing with her - which they did with great enthusiasm.
She reeled off her repertoire with great energy and vigour accompanied by a talented set of musicians from India and the award winning, refreshingly youthful voice of Shivprasad Mallya. From the alluring “Teri Ore”, through the pining “Tujh mein rab dikhta hai”, the heady “Jaadu hai nashaa hai” to the peppy “Bahaara” and the foot-tapping number from “Jab we met” (of which she gave an encore), Shreya enveloped the audience in the range of moods her songs portrayed.
Post-interval, Shreya continued with such favourites as “Pal har pal”, “Barso re megha”, “Zoobi doobi”, “Hum to aise hain bhaiyya” and many more. She sang a personal favourite from the 1970s film Aandhi “tere bina zindagi se koi” and later took on requests pleasing almost every section of the audience with songs in her native Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi and Punjabi. The immortal Marathi song “Reshamachya dhagyani” had the audience in raptures to the beat of talented percussionist Uday Parab’s dholak.
Shreya kept the audience on its toes with rapid-fire medleys, though many must have hoped she had sung each of the numbers fully. She rounded off the spectacular night with her legendary “Dola re” from Devdas, her debut song that catapulted her on to the major league bringing her the first of a string of accolades at the very beginning of her singing career.
Nitin Bhandarkar’s fine stand up comedy performance provided excellent relief before the break. His impersonation of yesteryear stars like Amol Palekar, Dev Anand and Manoj Kumar were perfect while Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar and Kishore Kumar had the audience in absolute splits.
The ABC Entertainment and Harmony Productions organised event presented by Indian Weekender and Uttam Fresh & Clean was managed brilliantly by Cultural Forum of India’s Ram Iyer. Unlike a recent concert that was ridden by unruly scenes at the start of the concert because of faulty ticketing that needed police intervention, Shreya’s concert went off like a dream, with the audience lapping up every moment of her magical performance.
Small wonder that the audience wanted more of it with many voicing their wish that Shreya return soon for an encore.

Shreya Ghoshal returns to Singapore to kick-start her latest concert tour
SINGAPORE: She's touted to be one of Bollywood's most awarded playback singers in recent times.
And now, Shreya Ghoshal is back in Singapore to kick-start her latest concert tour.
The singer shot to fame in her teenage years, after being talent spotted to be playback singer for Bollywood star, Aishwarya Rai in the blockbuster hit - Devdas.
The song from the film launched her career as she received both the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer and the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent.
"I was actually a student at that time doing exams, so I was like taking my books and everything and in the studios. And I was a part of the whole process throughout, so I would sit in a corner, and do my studies, whenever I was called, I would be rehearsing, it was such fun," Shreya recalled.
Since then, the 26-year old has worked in more than 140 films.
Besides Hindi, she also sings in Malayalam and Tamil - just to name a few.
And Shreya admits it can be quite tough at times.
"Let me give you all a secret, I sometimes forget my own lyrics, even on the stage I blank out, and I just make out my own lyrics and nobody knows. Very confidently I make up for all the goof-ups I make," she revealed.
Many regard her as the next Lata Mangeshkar - a famous playback singer.
Though Shreya has been touted as a rising youth icon in India, it wasn't easy for her to step into the limelight.
"I was a little apprehensive of coming into performances. I don't think even when Devdas was even released, even after that I was convinced by so many people but I could not just say yes, because I was not too confident about that.
"I thought that I had to have a little more repertoire of songs, to come on stage and perform so I gave almost one year of thought and convincing myself that now I should give my first performance.
"For acting stints, I have been approached, but I am totally scared of it, and I can't act, I know that for sure," she said.

check out the new national anthem!!!
this version of our respectable national anthem is by Sung by Kailash Kher, Shreya Ghoshal, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Niigaam and Salim himself!!!shreya's voice is enlightening....i got this video from youtube...thanks to the uploader!!!
Come Independence Day and the patriotism within us goes on an upsurge, which is why perhaps music composer Salim Merchant decided to compose a rendition of the new National Anthem.
Sung by Kailash Kher, Shreya Ghoshal, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Niigaam and Salim himself, the song is a one-and-a-half minute composition. However, since the National Anthem cannot really be changed, the new element is added in the form of acoustic guitars, piano and voice back. “The composition is made in a way that it sounds like a prayer,” says Merchant.
He says that the music company has taken care that there are no official issues involved with the reworked version. “I was really kicked about it. I felt fantastic to give something back to our own country,” adds Merchant who was very keen on making this composition when approached with the idea.

‘Tere Mast Mast Do Nain’ is a track which is grateful to those killing eyes that are too shy to express love. Video of the song catches Sallu in his natkhat avatar dying for that one jhalak of Sonakshi. Do not overlook Sallu’s ‘kaala chashma’ with hearts sparkling on them. Rahat Fatah Ali Khan is in his original ishtyle and is seen juggling with high and low tones. The song gets a thumbs up from us. Take a listen.
This track has 2 other versions – the duet with Shreya Ghoshal joining in and the remix version. All the versions are enjoyable on the whole. Shreya's silken voice brings alive the element of romance in the track.
After Bipasha’s ‘Beedi Jalai Le’ and Shilpa Shetty’s ‘Mein Aayi Hoon UP, Bihar Lootne’, there is one more item song coming your way with Indian beats and dhol. Malaika's latkas and jhatkas are sure to make all Bihari babu’s whistle out of thrill. Lyricist Jalees Sherwani ki kya tarif karen. The words and expressions used in the song say it all. “Munni badnaam hui, darling tere liye, munni ke gaal gulaabee, nayan sharaabee, chaal nabaabee re, re zandu bam hui, darling tere liye………”. “Shilpa si figure, Bebo si ada…’ wah wah! Mamta Sharma and Aishwarya are behind the mic and hope their Zandu balm works well for your headache. The remix adaptation is not very different, just a little fast-paced.
‘Chori Kiya Re Jiya’ is a very mushy track. Sonu Niigaam and sugary Sherya Ghoshal can very subtly put you to a 4.49 minute power nap. Press the ‘play’ button and you are off to your ‘romeo-juliet’ dreamland. This one seems like a mix of all those typical love songs sung by the pair Alka-Udit or the Alka-Sanu jodi.

Music Reviews
______________________________________
We are Family starts with SEL at their romantic best, as they come up with a typical romantic Aankhon mein neendein sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya Ghoshal along with Shankar Mahadevan. Irshad Kamil does no breakthrough to lyrics but adds a few beautiful touches to his words here and there. Lovable. A song for the long run.
If you haven’t heard the album yet, reduce the volume a bit before the second song starts. As Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy-KJo-Sid make Kajol kill Elvis with Dil Khol ke let’s rock, it’s clear that the song is definitely not the best thing for a music lover, but the song is certainly a tongue-sticker. Taking the video into account, I’d say Anushka does a wonderful job at being carefree while Akriti is good as a support and singer. The rocker Suraj Jagan sings this one also really well, though the negative point of the same is that he doesn’t sound casual unlike Anushka. Last word, you are anyway not likely to love it the first time, and if you’re an Elvis fan, there is no way at all. But even after all this, the song is going to be a hit, a superhit. After all, it’s Elvis’ music, and recreated by none less than SEL.
Next is the Best. Vishal Dadlani and Shankar Mahadevan come together for a wonderfulReham-O-Karam and the song just rocks. Reham-O-Karam starts with a casual solo rendering by Shankar and then suddenly it all gets rocking. From the on Vishal and Shankar sing Irshad Kamil’s lyrics to the wonderful tune of SEL and it’s Magik. Oops, magic.
Next song happens to be Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal’s Hamesha and Forever, which is kind of typical with nothing new but just some sweetness that both Sonu and Shreya have in plenty. A soft, slow number that will stick itself with the story of the movie and will keep walking at its own pace. Another one for long runs, but ma take some time to take off. As the name says, Hamesha and Forever.
The last song of the album is Sun le dua yeh aasmaan. The song is pretty slow, even from Karan and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s standards and Shreya Ghoshal does a good and pretty tough job as she moves the song alone. As a matter of fact, it’s almost a theme.
The end of the album is, of course, with a theme and this time Karan keeps the privilege for the trio again after MNIK where he had given the theme alone to Strings. It’s a typical, what do I say.
Overall, We Are Family is a predictably good and sweet album from Karan Johar and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Believe me I’m keeping Karan first because that matters more here. And yes, all the three words (predictable-sweet-good) don’t fit with JailHouse Rock. Still, I’m humming it.
revelling in success-the nightingale
At the age of 4, she accompanied her mom on harmonium. A few years later, the shy kid floored Sanjay Leela Bhansali on popular television talent show with her mellifluous voice instantly becoming the choice to be Paro's voice in Devdas. With four national awards for best female playback singing already in her kitty, Shreya Ghoshal has come a long way. From Bairi Piya bada bedardi to hip-shaking songs in Om Shanti Om to sultry numbers in Jism, this Bengali girl next-door has the versatility that ranges from the raunchy to romance.
“After Devdas, people started branding me as someone who can croon only serious songs. But I begged to differ and went about doing seductive numbers such as Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai. I was the first choice for soft and slow tracks, but then with Yeh Ishq hai number from Jab We Met things are on the fast track,” says Shreya who was in town for the friendship concert, which was her first public performance in the city.
Despite a late night recording, Shreya didn't mind to give this interview. “The fun we have in recording studio is stuff of envy for non-singers. Seriously, we have a rocking time in the studios. This was my first public performance and it was great fun. I have earlier performed in the city for corporate events.”
Daughter of a scientist father who works in Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Shreya does not have any musical lineage although her mother had love for music. In fact, her family is full of top-notch academicians. “I grew up in a non-musical family of doctors, scientists and engineers but fortunately my family allowed me to pursue my passion for music else I would have ended up researching in a laboratory,” giggles Shreya.
But with singing playing a major role in her life, Shreya's studies has completely taken a back seat.
“I was enrolled in the Science stream earlier when my singing kept me busy I shifted to arts. And that's how I had my first tryst with literature. I developed the habit of reading books and now I a big time fiction and non-fiction reader,” says Shreya
Recollecting the days when she started singing Shreya says, “I was 13 when I recorded my first music album. I never performed anywhere until I was 18. When people goaded me to perform on stage I would refuse because none of them were my songs. But at 18, I performed live. Music and reading books is perhaps in my genes. My mom studied literature and loved singing.”
Besides Hindi, she has sung in other regional languages including Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi, Assamese, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada and won acclaim in all these languages. Oriya, is the only language she is yet to open her innings in. When her fans compare her with the ‘Nightingale of India', Shreya is at once humbled. “It is their love that makes them compare me to Lataji. But I have a long way to go.” Shreya doesn't have the typical Bengali sweet tooth, but yearns to have her favourite fish curry with rice cooked by her mom. “I am a foodie who naturally loves Bengali food. I love cooking and when I am home I make myself busy in the kitchen whenever I get an opportunity.”

kadhal anukkal-a lovely poem!!!(endhiran music reviews)
Well, the mystery has begun to unravel. First, we were given stingy glimpses of the stills of the highly-anticipatedEndhiran. Right there, our imagination spread its limitless wings, encouraged by the flamboyance of the photographs. And now, it’s time to get a taste of the movie's music. Coming from A.R. Rahman, one is already set to listen to techno beats and snazzy rhythms. When the movie is titled Endhiran (which means Robot), we know there’s no room for the ordinary. Both expectations are thoroughly satisfied.
Produced by Sun Pictures, directed by Shankar, starring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the songs of Endhiran are released under the Think Music label.
The album takes off with 'Pudhiya Manidha' in the voices of S.P. Balasubrahmanyam, A.R. Rahman and his daughter Khatija Rahman. In keeping with the futuristic theme of the movie' the opening notes are very techno. A robotic rendering of the first verse is followed by slow strong chanting ‘Pudhiya Manidha Boomiku Va’. The song goes on to sing the praise of the Robot and it’s sublimity. When the pace gradually picks up, SPB’s vocals overpower the others'.
The next song is 'Kadhal Anukkal', a poetic love song in the voices of Vijay Prakash and Shreya Ghoshal. The mellifluous opening guitar strumming is simple yet soul-stirring. This is a typical ARR melody of the 2000s with pacey beats in the background and a gentle melody in the foreground. The first musical interlude with the distinctive note of bagpipes has a soothing feel to it, but when the techno beats surface in the second interlude, we are reminded that we are still in the Endhiran album! Needless to say, Vijay and Shreya bring soul to the composition – they always do!!!
'Irumbilae Oru Idhayam' is the next number. The lyrics are quite touching and bring out ‘the Robot with emotions’ angle. ARR has sung the song himself, and as always, arouses our emotions with finesse. You can’t miss the female voice singing 'Super Sonic Super Star' from time to time in the background. Once she even calls him 'Robotic Hypnotic Super Star!' The song has a heavy dose of quirky English lyrics and to top it all , we have a medium-pace rap from Kash 'n' Krissy that kind of grows on you.
What follows the heavily westernized number is the theme music, titled 'Chitti Dance Showcase', a very techno, speedy theme. It starts off with few lines of rap in English and quickly converts into quick-paced classical notes sung to heavy western percussion, a very interesting piece repeated a few times in the composition. The song has a heavy dose of electric drums; when the drums fall silent, they are replaced by a serene violin orchestra with a divine harmony.
'Arima Arima' opens with the royal rhythm of drums, like it’s marking the entry of an Emperor, in this case, Endhiran. While the chorus chants his praises, calling him even the Silicon Singam, there is a tinge of pain in the voice of Sadhana Sargam. The thuds of the drums continue all through the number, with Endhiran sounding every bit the tough guy in the voice of Hariharan. This majestic composition has a shade of melancholy, bringing out the contrast in the psychological mindsets of the characters.
While all these songs have an obvious attachment to techno beats and futuristic rhythms, the next song 'Kilimanjaro' is completely removed from these moods. Tribal beats and tribal chanting persist throughout the number without the slightest mention of Endhiran or anything robotic throughout. The lyrics are on the sensual side. The sound of the drums overpowers all other instruments in this number sung by Javed Ali and Chinmayi.
'Boom Boom Robot-da' is the last number in the album. This fully techno, upbeat number (sung by Krithi Sagathia, Swetha Mohan and Tanvi Shah, interspersed with Tamil rap from Yogi B) is a mish-mash of fast techno sounds and a moderately pacey tune. The lyrics reiterate the greatness of the robot and the unimaginable avenues it opens up for the development of humanity.

a bengali-girl-nextdoor to bollywood sensation!!!
At 26, she’s already one of the leading playback singers of the country and her four national awards prove that there’s no fluke in it. In the city for her first public concert, Shreya Ghoshal talks about her journey from a Bengali girl-next-door to Bollywood’s music sensation.
The singer who catapulted into the limelight when she won the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest naturally favours reality shows. “These shows are not just talent hunts. They are TV programmes too and hence are packaged with masala and emotional content. While the SMS system may not necessarily recognise the most talented participant, the exposure with millions watching one performing on TV for so long is always there. A lot of contestants are doing concerts, if not singing in films or recording for private albums. Success comes to everyone who makes it to these TV shows,” she says.
Shreya feels that she has a long way to go and a lot more to achieve. “National awards are the most prestigious awards for an Indian artiste and I never expected to get them as I never sang for awards. I want to create ground-breaking music. People should remember me for my work.”
Shreya goes on to inform that she is toying with the idea of coming out with a non-film private album. “Every playback singer should do non-film songs or an album. The problem is that unlike earlier, there are very few non-film music producers these days. I think one has to devise a creative way to promote non-film music.”
She has, in fact, a day dedicated to her in the US state of Ohio and that puts her right next to Swami Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore. “It was a surprise to be bestowed with the honour of June 26 being declared as Shreya Ghoshal Day in Ohio,” she says.
The singer made her debut in Tollywood with Nuvvemmaya Chesavo in Okkadu and says she’s loves the city for various reasons. “I’ve done plenty of Telugu songs and loved working with composers like Devi Sri Prasad, Radha Krishna and others. I also hope to meet one of my favourite composers, M.M. Keeravani. I also feel that the Hyderabadi audience make artistes feel loved. Also, I love Hyderabadi biryani!”
